OVERVIEW

The goal of the History Department in LJHS is for every pupil to have a general knowledge of some of the key political, social, economic and cultural events which have taken place in Britain, Europe and across the world between the 11th and 20th centuries. Knowledge and understanding are nurtured with a wide variety of active learning strategies and engaging group challenges.

TRIPS

The History Department aims to give pupils an array of opportunities to get immersed in historical events by visiting interesting sites and seeing memorabilia in reality. In September 2016, pupils had the opportunity to visit the Somme Battlefield and represent LJHS by laying a wreath as part of the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, Belgium.
