School bus information

Some important information regarding some of our school buses. From Monday 7th November the following buses will be running 5 minutes earlier in the mornings:
a. Moira Bus
b. Currie’s Turn/Waringstown Bus.

Update on Millennium Way Extension Scheme.

Despite good progress with the construction of the new section of Millennium Way, progress has been slower than expected at both the Flush Place/Gilford Road/Banbridge Road and Millennium Way/Malcolm Road junctions. Both junctions contain a significant amount of utility provider equipment and despite considerable advance works the necessary alteration and diversion of this equipment has been protracted and has proved more challenging than anticipated. Works are now expected to complete in Spring 2017.

TransportNI will continue to work with the Gibson Bros and utility providers to complete the works as soon as possible and will endeavour to minimise delays during the remainder of the works and in particular the busy Christmas period.

PSNI Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians

Today, I received this letter from P.S.N. I.  and I am passing it on to you.   This is not to alarm you but to support you in ensuring that all of our young people act responsibly at all times.  Form teachers will certainly speak to their classes early this week and this will be followed up in assemblies on Friday and Monday.  In the meantime, please take time to advise your children of the dangers pointed out in the letter.

Please Click Here to download a copy of the letter.

Many thanks

Football vs Dromore 13/10/16

The Under 12 football team have had a fantastic start to their Mid Ulster league campaign with a superb win over Dromore High School! It was a fantastic all round team performance and Lurgan dominated from the first whistle. Captain Harry Norton scored a hat trick, Cameron McKay got two and the others were scored by Tom Leathem, Ashley Beckett, Jack Managh, Ben McAvoy and Lexx McConville. Mackenzie Craig also had an outstanding game in midfield.

The U12 Blue Squad competed against Dromore’s B team also winning comfortably! Goals were scored by Luke Cairns (3), Cody Ferris (2), Connor McAlinden (2), Daniel Graham (2), and Stuart Harrison (1).

A great start to the season!

Translink 10/10/16

Dear Parents,

I would like to update you regarding some school buses arriving late into school in the morning and in the afternoon.  This has been a stressful time for our pupils, parents and staff.

The Teacher in Charge of Transport and I have spoken to Translink regularly about late buses.  We have been informed that a new scheduler is working to support us.  Unfortunately, whist their intentions are genuine, the impact for our young people is not supportive – they arrive late to first period class and in the afternoons, a number have had to rely on parents or family members to collect them.

Last week, I contacted Mrs Carla Lockhart (DUP & Governor)and Mrs Joanne Dobson (UUP).  I hope they can support us in resolving this situation.  In the meantime, I want to thank all of you who have contacted the school with your concerns.  I am hopeful that this can be resolved quickly in the interests of all our children.

Yours sincerely

Mrs L Currie

UPDATED INFO FROM TRANSPORT NI – Pupils have been informed during Form Time but please reinforce the information at home.

We would ask the teaching staff to take this opportunity to emphasis to all pupils of the on-going road works in the vicinity of Flush place/Malcolm Road, and the requirement to use the diversions currently put in place for their own safety.

We currently have a closure in place on the Gilford Road/ Flush Place footway, all pedestrians should use the designated crossing point on the Gilford Road and follow the designated diversion.

Congratulations Troy McConville

We would like to say a massive congratulations to Troy McConville who won the U15 Northern Ireland Pentathlon this season. Scoring a total of 2696 points with the following results:
80 Metres Hurdles – 12.79 sec
Shot Put – 10.14m
High Jump – 1.78m
Long Jump – 5.74m
800m – 2 mins 21 sec
This result ranks Troy 5th in the UK.
He also jumped 1.83m in the High Jump at the Young Athletes League Final and is now ranked 3rd in the UK.
A fantastic achievement, well done.

3.       A road closure will be required for the roundabout toward the end of the construction works to complete the road surfacing. A further update will be provided closer to the time.

4.       At times, there may be lane closures at the Malcolm Road / Russell Drive junction.

5.       At all times traffic management arrangements will be clearly signposted.

If travelling from Waringstown or Magheralin by car, you would be advised leave extra time for you journey, especially in the event of wet weather.
